On Vaibhav Suryavanshi not getting a chance, AB de Villiers said – There is no point in making him wait now.

Game desk, busted. Former South African captain AB de Villiers has raised questions on the decision to continuously keep young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi out of the playing eleven. De Villiers believes that the 15-year-old player, who performed brilliantly in IPL 2026, should have got a chance to debut in international cricket during the Ireland tour itself. Vaibhav Suryavanshi was included in the Indian team for the tour of Ireland and England, but till now he has not got a chance to play a single match. He could not be a part of the playing eleven in both the T20 matches against Ireland and the first T20 against England.

I was sure that Vaibhav would get a chance: AB de Villiers

On his YouTube channel, AB de Villiers said that he hoped that the Ireland tour would prove to be the best opportunity to try Vaibhav at the international level. He said that despite such an impressive performance, it is disappointing that the young batsman is not getting a chance. De Villiers also disagreed with the thinking of the Indian team management in which Vaibhav was asked to wait for his turn. He said that after the kind of performance Vaibhav has done in the IPL, he should have been given an opportunity to play straight away in a challenging environment, especially against a team like Ireland.

The coach had said that Vaibhav should wait for his chance.

In fact, during the Ireland tour, India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate had said that Vaibhav will have to wait for his chance. According to him, the team management wanted to be fair to Sanju Samson, who played a key role in India’s T20 World Cup win this year. However, Sanju Samson has not been successful in playing big innings in the last three innings, after which the demand to give a chance to Vaibhav has intensified.

Vaibhav was the batsman who scored the most runs in IPL 2026.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi performed brilliantly for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026, scoring 776 runs. Apart from this, he also made headlines by scoring the fastest half-century in List-A cricket. This is why many former cricketers and experts are advocating his inclusion in the playing eleven of the Indian team as soon as possible.

AB also expressed concern over the performance of the Indian team

AB de Villiers also expressed concern over the recent performance of the Indian team. He said that Team India needs to change its strategy according to the current circumstances. According to him, batting in British conditions is not like IPL and sometimes a score of 140 to 160 runs can prove to be enough for victory. It is noteworthy that India recently had to face a 0-2 defeat in the two-match T20 series against Ireland, while the first T20 match against England was canceled due to rain. Now the second T20 match between the two teams will be played in Manchester on 4th July.
