The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued an improvement notice to AB Hotels Ltd, operator of the Radisson Blu Hotel in New Delhi, following severe food safety and hygiene lapses.
During recent inspections, the apex food regulator uncovered widespread deficiencies, including rusted machinery, leaking freezers, stagnant water, and inadequate pest control, evidenced by cockroach and fly activity.
Authorities also flagged the receipt of fungal-affected and deteriorated fruits and vegetables, along with gaps in vendor traceability records.
In addition, cooking oil tested in the hotel’s kitchen showed degraded Total Polar Compound (TPC) values of up to 31, far exceeding permissible standards. Inspectors further noted improper segregation between raw, cooked, vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and allergenic foods. Food handlers were found operating without gloves or hairnets, wearing jewellery, and maintaining long nails.
The FSSAI has ordered AB Hotels Ltd to take immediate corrective measures and submit a detailed action-taken report backed by documentary evidence.
The regulator warned that failure to comply could result in stringent regulatory action, including the suspension of its FSSAI license.
