He chose the playground, not IIT.
Born in Kota, Rajasthan, Arundhati Chaudhary’s family wanted her to pursue her studies. Her father, Suresh Chaudhary, who is in the property business, wanted her to prepare for IIT. However, Arundhati decided to pursue sports as her career. Initially, she played basketball and captained her team. However, at the age of 15, she chose boxing, a decision that proved to be a turning point in her life. Under the guidance of coach Ashok Gautam, she continuously worked on her technique and fitness, which led her to international level.
Injuries did not break his spirits
Arundhati’s career hasn’t been easy. She’s suffered several serious injuries. A wrist fracture required surgery to insert a plate. A serious ankle injury. A head injury forced her to stay away from competitions for a long time. Despite being out of action for about one and a half to two years, she never gave up. Upon her return, she consistently performed brilliantly, winning several international medals and now also winning the Commonwealth Games gold medal. Arundhati Chaudhary serves as a Havildar in the Indian Army. By balancing sports and military service, she has brought glory to the country internationally.
Now eyes on Olympic gold
After winning the Commonwealth Games gold medal, Arundhati’s next big goal is to win a gold medal for India at the Los Angeles Olympics. Her performance in Glasgow indicates that she is fully prepared for the big competitions to come.
