Uddhav Thackeray, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray and senior Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) leaders took to the streets of Mumbai on Sunday and led a massive 'Virat Garjana Morcha' against the Election Commission and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The people involved in the protest, which started from the Metro Cinema and ended in a public meeting outside the BMC headquarters near CSMT, did not raise the flag of any party, but were only carrying the Indian tricolor and copies of the Constitution. The massive demonstration was a direct attack on the way the 'Special Intensive Revision' (SIR) process of the electoral rolls was conducted by the Election Commission. Critics say this process has illegally disenfranchised millions of voters in Maharashtra and across the country.
Senior MVA leaders, including veteran Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat and Nationalist Congress Party (SP) leaders Anil Deshmukh and Shashikant Shinde, strongly criticized the central government. He accused the government of systematically 'stealing votes' and undermining the constitutional framework to change the election results in its favour. Ignoring traditional party flags, the march featured a united display of the Indian national flag and the Constitution, making the movement entirely a people's movement in defense of democracy.
Deepke had also demonstrated in Mumbai

The leaders adopted a sharp tone and demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and his legal accountability for allegations of partisan manipulation and institutional bias in voter rolls. The opposition reiterated its demand for abolition of electronic voting machines (EVMs) while emphasizing on structural reforms and bringing back the traditional paper ballot system to restore public confidence in electoral fairness. Earlier, there was a big protest against Gyanesh Kumar in Mumbai under the leadership of Abhijeet Deepke. A large number of people had come to the protest in Shivaji Park.
Demonstration in Delhi on 10 October
The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Saturday said its proposed protest in Delhi on October 10 will be peaceful and appealed to every citizen in favor of free and fair elections to participate in it. CJP said that if Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar does not resign, there will be a demonstration on October 10. Deepke said that if Gyanesh Kumar does not resign, 'cockroaches' from across the country will march to Delhi and protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10. He said that if Delhi Police tries to stop us, the place where we will be stopped will become our Jantar Mantar. Our demonstration will be peaceful. We will follow the path shown by Mahatma Gandhi.
