Abhishek-Malinga took SRH to top-3, Delhi Capitals’ third defeat
The 31st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 was played between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC). In this match held at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, SRH registered a big win by 47 runs. SRH had scored 242 runs at the loss of 2 wickets when invited to bat first. Abhishek Sharma played an unbeaten inning of 135 runs in 68 balls, due to which the host team set a huge target for DC.
In response, DC made a good start and scored 98 runs in 9 overs but Ishan Malinga sealed their defeat by removing Nitish Rana (57) and David Miller (0) on the first two balls of the 11th over. In the end DC team could reach only 195 runs after losing 9 wickets. This was his third defeat in the last 4 matches. On the other hand, SRH has secured the third position in the points table with its third consecutive win.

Abhishek’s storm came
The pair of Travis Head and Abhishek had made a steady start in the match. Both added 36 runs in the first 4 overs. After this, Abhishek-Head scored 20 runs against Nitish Rana in the fifth over. From here both got momentum and they made an opening partnership of 97 runs in 8.5 overs. Head became the victim of opposition captain Akshar Patel after scoring 37 runs in 26 balls. Meanwhile, Abhishek had completed his half-century in 25 balls. He along with captain Ishan Kishan took the innings forward and scored a century in 47 balls. Ishaan was run out on Abhishek’s straight shot after scoring 25 runs in 13 balls.
After Ishan’s departure, Abhishek took charge along with Heinrich Klaasen (37 runs in 13 balls) and took SRH to a mountain-level score. He hit 10 fours and the same number of sixes in his innings. Akshar was the only successful bowler from DC. He took 1 wicket for 23 runs in 2 overs.

Malinga took 4 wickets
Ishan Malinga bowled lethally and took 4 wickets for 29 runs in 4 overs and ensured a big win for SRH. Harsh Dubey (3 wickets), Saqib Hussain (1 wicket) and Dilshan Madushanka (1 wicket) supported him well. Apart from Nitish Rana, Sameer Rizvi (41 runs in 28 balls), KL Rahul (37 runs in 23 balls) and Tristan Stubbs (27 runs in 16 balls) played good innings for DC but it was insufficient.
