Abu Dhabi-Fujairah Train: Tickets sold as soon as they opened, seats full within 24 hours, service will start from June 30
Inter-Emirate passenger train service is going to start for the first time in UAE. There was tremendous enthusiasm among the people for this train running between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. Within just 24 hours of ticket release, the seats for the initial days were almost completely filled.
Booking for this new route started on 23 June 2026 on Etihad Rail’s mobile application and official website. The initial phase of passenger service between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah will begin on 30 June 2026. The service is part of the UAE Railways programme, which was launched in 2021 under the ‘Projects of the 50’ initiative.
Fare and ticket information
Etihad Rail has two types of classes and three types of ticket options for passengers. Initially huge discount has been given in the fare.
Tickets are divided into three categories:
- Saver: This is for those whose plans are fixed. There will be no change or refund in the ticket.
- Value: There will be facility to choose seat and changes will be free till 72 hours before the journey.
- Flex: This is the most flexible option, which will have the most flexibility for change.
Travel and train capacity
In the initial phase, three direct trains will run daily in both directions between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. It will take a total time of 1 hour 45 minutes to travel on this route. The passenger fleet consists of a total of 13 trains, one of which can accommodate 400 passengers and will have a speed of up to 200 km per hour.
future expansion
Different dates have been fixed for the expansion of the entire network. Dubai Train Station and Al Dhaid Train Station will open on 30 September 2026. After this, Al Dhafra station will become operational on 30 December 2026 and Sharjah Train Station on 30 March 2027.
Sheikh Thiab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is the chairman of Etihad Rail, has described this rail network as a major change for the UAE’s transport system. He said this will improve connectivity between different emirates and help development. At the same time, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has inaugurated the Mohammed bin Zayed City Passenger Train Station.
