DANIPS cadre officer Manasvi Vashishtha, posted as Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in Delhi Police, is the most talked about person in the country’s capital these days. He had led a protest with over 100 policemen outside the Delhi Police Headquarters (PHQ) against the transfer of him and the then SHO Arun Kumar following a dispute with lawyers at Shahdara police station. The Union Home Ministry (MHA) has taken disciplinary action and suspended him with immediate effect after he opened a protest against his own department while on-duty in uniform and insisted on meeting the Commissioner. After the suspension, Manasvi Vashishtha said that he is not hurt by this decision but has become stronger and he has full faith in the law and justice of the country.
Manasvi Vashishtha has a very distinguished family and educational background:
-
Childhood spent in Jaipur: Born in a doctor family in Jaipur, Rajasthan, Manasvi Vashishtha completed his early school education from Jaipur itself.
-
Engineering from IIT: Manasvi, a brilliant student, secured admission in the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Kharagpur). He completed his Mechanical Engineering degree from IIT Kharagpur during the year 2009 to 2013.
After completing his engineering studies, he chose the path of national service instead of the corporate world:
-
Posting in Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB): In the year 2016, he joined the Central Armed Police Force ‘Sashastra Seema Bal’ (SSB). During his tenure of almost four years, he served in sensitive areas like Jammu and Kashmir and Bihar.
-
Selection in DANIPS Cadre: He was selected in the DANIPS (Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Police Service) cadre of 2019-20 batch through the Civil Services Examination.
-
DSP Posts in Andaman and Nicobar: After initial training in Delhi, he was sent to Andaman and Nicobar in the year 2022, where he served as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Diglipur and Havelock. He returned to Delhi after completing his deputation in December 2024.
After his return to Delhi Police, he was entrusted with several high-profile and sensitive responsibilities:
-
Personal Security Officer of the Vice President: Manasvi Vashishtha was posted as the Personal Security Officer (PSO) of former Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar (he resigned from this responsibility in the year 2025).
-
VVIP Security Unit: While working in the Security Unit of Delhi Police, he played an important role in coordinating the security arrangements during the AI Summit and the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to India.
-
Gandhi Nagar Sub-Division: In March 2026, he was posted as SDPO/ACP in Gandhi Nagar sub-division of Shahdara district.
This entire controversy started after an alleged clash and assault with a lawyer at Shahdara police station on October 23. In protest against this, lawyers of various district courts of Delhi including Tis Hazari, Karkardooma had started an indefinite strike, accusing ACP Manasvi Vashishtha and SHO Arun Kumar of indecency. To calm the matter, the Delhi Police administration hastily transferred both the officers.
There was anger among the policemen, terming this transfer as an action taken under unilateral pressure from the lawyers, after which on November 2, under the leadership of Manasvi Vashishtha, the policemen demonstrated at the gate of the police headquarters and demanded an impartial investigation and making a standard operating procedure (SOP). Considering this protest as indiscipline, the Home Ministry has issued an order for his suspension.
