Kanpur. District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh conducted a surprise inspection of the Regional Employment Office at 2 pm on Wednesday. On checking the attendance register, five senior assistants Rakesh Kumar Singh, Sanjeev Kumar Srivastava, Rajni Verma, Satish Pandey and Kshem Agnihotri were found absent. The District Magistrate gave instructions to deduct one day's salary of the five employees and get an explanation from them within a week.
Also asked to clarify by which officer the permission was given to the concerned personnel to remain absent from the office. If this is found to be repeated in future, the responsibility of the concerned personnel as well as the supervisory officer will be fixed.
During the inspection, private vendors were found sitting in front of the main gate of the office for registration on the employment portal, whereas there was no proper arrangement for free registration of candidates inside the office. The District Magistrate gave instructions to immediately set up a free registration counter/help desk and display its information at prominent places including the main gate. Also, a report was sought within three working days as to which officer and under what system the private vendors were allowed to sit there.
Despite the posting of administrative officer in the office, the updated work distribution of officers and employees was not available. Especially when four employees were found posted in the Accounts Section, the District Magistrate clarified the actual workload of each section and the rationale behind the deployment of employees and gave instructions to submit the report within three working days.
