Artificial Intelligence (AI) is creating new opportunities in the fields of education and scientific research, but its growing influence is also raising many questions about truth, trust and human relationships. This was said by the Director of Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Prof. Govindan Rangarajan said this while addressing the third convocation ceremony of Adani University in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
Degrees were awarded to 374 students of the batch of 2026 at the convocation ceremony of Adani University. 10 students were awarded medals for academic excellence. These include five gold, three silver and two bronze medals.

Chief guest of the ceremony Prof. Govindan Rangarajan said that Artificial Intelligence is providing vast possibilities in the field of education and research. With its help, it can help in solving complex problems and increasing the speed of scientific discoveries.
However, he also stressed the need to be cautious about the possible side effects of AI. He said that when pictures, videos and information start appearing so real that it becomes difficult to differentiate whether they are true or false, then the question becomes important as to how to identify the truth.
He also said that technology is bringing people closer digitally, but it is important to consider whether the distances in human relationships are increasing. According to him, along with adopting the capabilities of AI, it is also important to understand what there is a risk of losing by using it.
Emphasis on cooperation between industry and academia
Dr. Preeti Adani, President, Adani University, presided over the function and welcomed the chief guest. He Prof. Rangarajan’s contributions in the field of mathematics, research and educational leadership were appreciated.
Dr. Preeti Adani said that his experiences and achievements are an inspiration to the students of the University as well as all those working towards making the Institute a leading research-based university.
He also highlighted the importance of collaboration between industry and academia. According to Dr Adani, the purpose of the partnership between industry and universities is not just to decide which subjects the universities should study, but the connection with real situations brings to the fore questions which industry and academia might not have been able to identify if they worked separately.
He said that India has developed infrastructure on a large scale. Now the country will have to move towards innovation and developing new ideas on a large scale. He called upon the students to work on such innovations whose benefits can reach even the most deprived sections of the society.
Emphasis on research and industry cooperation in the annual report of the university
During the ceremony, University Provost Prof. (Dr.) Dhawal Pujara presented the annual report. He highlighted the contributions of faculty members, staff, students and industry partners.
He informed about the efforts of the university to strengthen its academic foundation, develop a better environment for research and increase cooperation with industry and society.
The long-term goal of the University is to develop into a multidisciplinary institution in the field of education and research, which can contribute to India’s development and nation building.
Adani University was established in 2022
Adani University was established in the year 2022. The main focus of the university is on education, practical training and research in line with the needs of the industry.
The university is envisioned to promote multidisciplinary research, knowledge generation and teaching in areas such as infrastructure, energy, technology and digital healthcare.
Undergraduate and postgraduate programs in engineering, technology and business management are conducted here. These include BTech, MTech and MBA along with integrated BTech-MBA and BTech-MTech programmes. In addition, an interdisciplinary PhD program is also offered at the university.
According to the university, more than 1,800 students are studying here. Adani University is the first university in the state of Gujarat to receive certification under the ISO 21001:2018 standard for management systems in higher education.
