Tezzbuzz Desk- Jasprit Bumrah’s performance in IPL 2026 is currently the biggest topic of discussion among cricket fans and experts. This season has been very disappointing so far for this star fast bowler of Mumbai Indians, where he is failing to take wickets continuously.
Bumrah’s wicket column in five matches so far is zero, which is considered to be the longest wicketless streak of his illustrious career. This time, Bumrah, who usually turns the tables of the match, is not only not able to take wickets, but is also not showing the same edge in stopping the runs.
This season he has bowled against Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders. In these matches he has given a total of 164 runs and his economy has been 8.63. Although this figure is not considered completely bad in T20 format, the team expects more wickets from a strike bowler like Bumrah.
The poor form of Mumbai Indians has also increased this problem. The team has lost four consecutive matches and has slipped down in the points table. In such a situation, Bumrah’s lack of form has become a cause of great concern for the team management.
According to analysts, this season the batsmen have started reading Bumrah better. Whereas earlier it was not easy for them to score runs, now the batsmen are playing big shots without any fear. This is affecting his wicket-taking ability.
Apart from this, there has also been a change in his bowling strategy. This season he is using slower deliveries. According to the statistics, almost 44 percent of his balls are going slower, due to which his average speed has dropped to around 130 kilometers per hour.
Experts believe that the use of excessively slow balls is reducing their effectiveness. If Bumrah relies more on his fast balls and yorkers, his slower balls can again prove to be as lethal as before.
At present, the biggest challenge for Mumbai Indians is how to get their key bowler back to his old form again, so that the team can return to the winning path.
