After all, why is the opposition preparing to write a letter to PM Modi? Know the whole story

The stir in the country’s politics has intensified after the Constitution Amendment Bill related to reservation for women was not passed in the Lok Sabha. This issue, which started within the Parliament, has now reached the streets and public meetings, where the opposition parties have started making a common strategy regarding it. Efforts to show unity on this issue have intensified among various parties.

Preparation to write a letter to PM Modi

According to sources, the opposition is preparing to write a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding implementation of the old bill related to women’s reservation. He believes that the already agreed proposal should be taken forward, rather than complicating the process through new provisions.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi has also raised questions on the government’s stance and openly challenged it. She has demanded from the Center that the bill already passed should be brought back to the Parliament, so that it can be clear who stands in favor of women on this issue and who does not. He says that the opposition is ready to support this proposal.

Plan to organize press conferences across the country

Meanwhile, the parties of the India Alliance are planning to organize press conferences across the country. Through these events, she wants to send the message that she is in favor of women’s reservation, but the government is accused of trying to change the political equation by linking it to delimitation.

In a recent meeting, opposition leaders expressed satisfaction over mutual coordination and congratulated each other. Sonia Gandhi also expressed her gratitude towards the allies. On the other hand, the government says that it is committed to giving 33 percent reservation to women. A similar provision was also made in the earlier passed Nari Shakti Vandan Act, 2023.

Did not get majority in Lok Sabha

On Friday, the required two-thirds majority could not be obtained to pass this bill in the Lok Sabha. In the voting held after a long discussion, 298 MPs voted in its support and 230 against it, due to which the proposal fell. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla clarified that the bill could not be passed due to non-fulfillment of constitutional requirements.

After this development, the round of allegations and counter-allegations between the ruling party and the opposition has intensified, due to which this issue is likely to become more politically heated in the future.
