After Ayodhya row, Krishna Janmabhoomi litigant seeks transparency in temple donations
A petitioner in the ongoing Krishna Janmabhoomi litigation on Wednesday called for greater transparency in the management of temple donations and sought a CBI investigation into the handling of funds at the Sri Krishna Janmasthan Temple in Mathura.
The petitioner alleged irregularities in the administration of donations and claimed that temple trusts across the country must adopt transparent financial practices to ensure accountability in the management of devotees’ contributions.
Demand Comes Amid Debate Over Temple Donations
The demand comes amid continuing discussions surrounding donation management at prominent religious institutions. Referring to the controversy linked to the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhyathe petitioner claimed that similar concerns could arise elsewhere if adequate oversight mechanisms are not in place.
He argued that donations offered by devotees should be managed through transparent systems that allow proper auditing and public accountability.
Call For CBI Probe
The petitioner urged authorities to order a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the management of donations at the Sri Krishna Janmasthan Temple.
According to the petitioner, an independent investigation would help determine whether all financial transactions related to donations are being handled in accordance with established rules and regulations.
No official agency has publicly confirmed any irregularities in the temple’s donation management, and the allegations remain claims made by the petitioner.
Focus On Financial Accountability
The issue raised by the litigant centres on financial transparency within temple trusts and religious institutions that receive significant donations from devotees.
The petitioner stated that trust bodies managing religious sites should maintain clear accounting procedures and make financial records available for scrutiny whenever required.
He also stressed that transparency would strengthen public confidence in the administration of religious institutions.
Temple Authorities Yet To Respond
As of Wednesday, there was no immediate public response from the management of the Sri Krishna Janmasthan Temple regarding the allegations and the demand for a probe.
Officials have not announced any investigation into the claims, and no court order directing a CBI inquiry has been issued in connection with the matter.
Krishna Janmabhoomi Case Continues
The petitioner is among those involved in the long-running legal proceedings related to the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah disputewhich continues to be heard in various courts.
While the litigation remains separate from the latest allegations regarding donation management, the remarks have brought renewed attention to issues of financial transparency and governance in religious trusts.
