After PM Modi in Norway, questions were also asked to the Chief Justice in London

The country’s Chief Justice Justice Surya Kant had come to attend a program at Birkbeck College, London University. He delivered a lecture on ‘Artificial Intelligence and International Law’. He said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer a hypothetical technology, but a working reality and one of the most important tests for international law.

The Chief Justice said that the choices made in this decade will shape the future relationship between technology, power, freedom and justice. Technology in itself is neither inherently beneficial nor inherently harmful.

What questions were asked?

Meanwhile, some in the audience raised concerns with the Chief Justice over India’s record of democracy, growing hostility towards dissent and a recently discussed judicial report.

However, the moderator apologized and replied that he could not answer these questions, as the topic of discussion was AI and international law. After this he ended the session. In another video, some people are standing and asking questions. They also point with fingers. A commotion is created there.

Technology is neither good nor bad

The Chief Justice further said that unlike previous technological revolutions, AI not only augments human capabilities but is also increasingly involved in decision-making processes that were previously considered the sole responsibility of humans.

He also said that technology in itself is neither good nor bad. Its impact depends on the legal, political and ethical frameworks within which societies use it. Therefore, the responsibility of the law is neither to oppose technological progress nor to bow before it without question.

Its responsibility is to ensure that technological power remains accountable to constitutional values, democratic legitimacy and human dignity. Let us tell you that the Chief Justice is on a six-day tour of the United Kingdom (UK).
