New Delhi: Security agencies in the capital, Delhi, remained on high alert throughout the day on Monday. Bomb threats against several schools created a stir in the morning. Police were still investigating these cases when an email threatening to blow up the Delhi Mayor’s office and the historic Red Fort surfaced in the afternoon. Following these repeated threats, security was further tightened. However, initial investigations have found no suspicious objects, and the police have urged the public to stay away from rumors.
The day began with several schools in the capital receiving threatening messages. Upon receiving the information, school administrations immediately informed the police and security agencies. Security protocols were subsequently implemented in all affected schools, and the entire campus was inspected. According to police officials, no explosives or suspicious objects have been found in any of the schools. Nevertheless, security agencies are investigating every information with utmost vigilance.
A thorough search of the school premises was carried out.
Following the threat, police, local administration, and school security teams launched a joint operation. Classrooms, bathrooms, corridors, playgrounds, and surrounding areas within the school campus were thoroughly inspected. Officials urged parents not to believe any unverified information or rumors circulating on social media and to rely only on official information issued by the police and administration.
Mayor’s office and Red Fort also received threats
Meanwhile, in the afternoon, an email threatening to blow up the Mayor’s office of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Red Fort was received on the MCD’s official email address. The sender identified himself as associated with the Khalistan National Army (KNA). Security was immediately heightened at both locations upon receiving the threat. Police and other security agencies began searching the entire area and took all necessary precautionary measures.
Security has already been tightened in the capital ahead of Independence Day. In light of the ongoing threats, police are maintaining extra vigilance. Authorities have urged citizens to immediately report any suspicious objects or activities to the police. They also urged them to refrain from spreading or believing rumors to assist the administration in maintaining law and order.
