NDA ready to form government for the third consecutive time
It is noteworthy that the ruling NDA in Assam is ready to form the government for the third consecutive time. NDA has got a landslide victory on a total of 101 seats in the 126-member assembly. According to the data till 10 pm, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had won 81 seats, while it was leading in one seat. Great victory of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma celebrated his victory by defeating Congress candidate Bidisha Neog by a huge margin of 89,434 votes. He has won from Jalukbari constituency for the sixth consecutive time, which is a testament to his popularity and regional hold. In the opposition camp, Congress won 15 seats and was leading on four seats. AIUDF led by Badruddin Ajmal and Raijor Dal led by Akhil Gogoi had to be content with two seats each. At the same time, Trinamool Congress has won one seat. These figures reflect the weak position of the opposition in Assam, due to which the Congress in-charge had to resign.
