New Delhi. The smell of burning still lingers in the air on Thursday, a day after the horrific hotel fire in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar. Electrical wires are hanging in the narrow street and there is silence in the area. Also, due to the horrific memories of the day before, there is an atmosphere of fear and shock among the residents here.

21 people died in a massive fire at ‘Flourish Stay Bed and Breakfast’ hotel on Wednesday morning. The scars of this tragedy are still clearly visible. However, police have set up barricades at the scene, and investigators are combing through the burnt building. However, local residents are not able to recover from this incident.

After this incident many people could not even sleep at night. The shopkeeper, who runs a small grocery shop about 10 meters away from the hotel, said he would always remember the scenes he saw.

The shopkeeper said he could not sleep at night after seeing burnt people, people jumping from the building and dead bodies. Now I am scared of even small sounds. Meanwhile, another resident Kanhaiya said that this tragedy has not only given deep shock to the families who have lost their loved ones, but the people living nearby have also been shaken by it.

He said, children are asking what happened here. My wife could not sleep the whole night. Kanhaiya said that the screams of the people trapped in the hotel and the pleas for help are still echoing in the ears of the local residents.

A team of Delhi Police, Crime Branch and forensic experts are investigating the incident site. In view of this, a cordon has been imposed around the hotel on Thursday.

A police officer said the area has been sealed as a precautionary measure and to investigate the structure and collect evidence. Investigators are trying to understand the sequence of events. Police are interrogating local residents, shopkeepers, hotel employees and other witnesses as part of the investigation.
