After the terrible flood, earthquake felt again in Tibet

Lassa, 03 September 2026: Strong earthquake tremors have been felt once again in Tibet. This shock was felt exactly a week after the Nepal disaster. There is panic among the people due to earthquake; However, till the time of writing this news, there is no report of loss of life.

According to the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ), an earthquake of magnitude 5.0 occurred in Tibet on Thursday. The GFZ said that the epicenter of the earthquake was recorded at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.21 miles) from the surface.

On Thursday, September 3, an earthquake of magnitude 5 on the Richter scale occurred in Tibet. This earthquake occurred a week after the devastation in Nepal.

It is important to note that on August 26, a devastating flood caused by the collapse of a glacier in Tibet near the Nepal border caused widespread destruction in many towns and villages in the hilly region. After this disaster, more than a thousand people have died in Nepal and approximately 4000 people are reported missing.

Nearly 100 Nepali citizens missing after floods in Tibet

Nepal Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lok Bahadur Chhetri has said that about 100 Nepali citizens are missing due to the devastating flash floods on the Nepal-Tibet border.

Even after a week after flash floods caused widespread devastation in many towns and villages of the country, more than 1200 people have died and more than 4875 people are still missing.

Chhetri had said in a press briefing that at least 19 dead bodies were found lying in the flow of Bhote Koshi river in Rasuwa district in India. He explained that these dead bodies had reached India from Bhote Koshi river via Trishuli and Narayani rivers. They were found near the Indian border adjacent to Rupandehi and Nawalparasi western districts of Nepal.
