AIFF issues strong statement against racism after alleged racial abuse of Fallou Ndiaye in ISL 2025-26

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has issued a powerful official statement reaffirming its firm stand against racism in Indian football. This comes after complaints of alleged racial abuse targeted at players during the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26 season.

The development follows disturbing reports from the recent southern derby between Bengaluru FC and Kerala Blasters at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. Videos circulating on social media claimed that Kerala Blasters defender Fallou Ndiaye was subjected to racist chants from sections of the crowd.

AIFF’s Official Stance on Racism

In its official statement, the AIFF declared:

“The All India Football Federation has received certain complaints regarding alleged racist conduct against players during the ongoing Indian Super League 2025-26. We stand firmly with the players, and every individual who has the right to participate in and enjoy this beautiful game free from discrimination of any kind. The AIFF maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards racism. The complaints have been referred to the Disciplinary Committee, an independent judicial body, for examination as per the AIFF Disciplinary Code. The AIFF will refrain from any further comments while the proceedings are ongoing. The Indian Football family stands resolutely against racism. Those who bring hatred into our stadiums have no place in our game.”

This clear and unequivocal message underscores the federation’s commitment to protecting players and maintaining the integrity of Indian football.

What Led to the Controversy?

Kerala Blasters secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Bengaluru FC — their first win of the ISL 2025-26 season. Goals from Víctor Bertomeu and debutant Franchu helped the Yellow Army stage a comeback after Fallou Ndiaye’s own goal had given the home side an early lead.

However, the sporting achievement was marred by allegations of racist slurs directed at the Senegalese centre-back Ndiaye. Kerala Blasters quickly condemned the incident and formally complained to both the ISL authorities and the AIFF.

In their official response, Kerala Blasters stated they had noted an “appalling incident” where one of their players faced blatant racist chants. The club expressed strong condemnation and confirmed it would pursue all necessary actions to safeguard its player, stressing that “there is no place for racism in our game.”

Bengaluru FC also issued a firm statement, describing racism as completely unacceptable and against the core values of the club and the sport. The club said it is actively working with authorities to identify the person responsible and will take appropriate measures.
