Air traffic resumes in Kuwait: Temporary ban imposed after Iranian attacks lifted

Kuwait City, June 6. Air traffic has been resumed in the Gulf country Kuwait. Earlier, the airspace was temporarily closed due to security reasons after the Iranian attacks. Kuwait’s Civil Aviation Directorate gave this information on Saturday afternoon.

According to Kuwaiti officials, Kuwait’s airspace was closed for some time due to the security situation. During this period, a total of 11 flights of Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways had to be diverted to nearby airports. Many of these flights were sent to Dammam and Riyadh airports in Saudi Arabia. The Aviation Department said that this step was taken as a precautionary measure due to ‘missile and drone threat’. However, later when the situation was controlled, air traffic was normalized again.

Kuwait’s Civil Aviation Authority said in a statement on Saturday that the country’s airspace was temporarily closed for two hours for security reasons. This step was taken as a precautionary measure from 4.15 am to 6.15 am. According to officials, this decision was taken when the country faced missile and drone attacks from Iran. In view of the security situation, all flight movements were stopped.

The statement said that after coordination with the concerned agencies when it was ensured that the situation was under control and the danger had passed, air traffic and inbound and outbound flights were resumed. All diverted flights returned safely to Kuwait International Airport after the airspace reopened. Officials said operations have returned to normal in accordance with the highest safety and standards.
