British holidaymakers have been handed a major travel boost as an airline confirmed brand-new daily flights to a favourite European hotspot. Cyprus Airways has announced a new direct route linking London Stansted with the city of Larnaca, offering sun-seeking Britons another easy route to the Mediterranean. Flights take off on April 23, 2027, running right through to September 16, 2027. Seats have already gone on sale, giving early planners the chance to lock in their warm-weather escapes well in advance. Boasting sizzling summer highs of over 30C and pleasant, balmy spring sunshine, Cyprus remains a firm favourite for holidaymakers seeking golden beaches, historic architecture and traditional tavernas.
April is widely regarded as one of the best times to visit, catching the island – south of Turkey – in full bloom with comfortable temperatures for sightseeing before the peak mid-summer heat kicks in. Larnaca, found on the island’s south-eastern coastline, combines classic seaside relaxation with rich culture.
Visitors can wander the palm-lined Finikoudes promenade, relax on sandy bays, or head into the historic heart of the town to visit the ninth-century Church of Saint Lazarus. Nature enthusiasts can also explore the famous Larnaca Salt Lake – a key stopping point for flamingos – while traditional hillside villages and ancient ruins dot the surrounding countryside. The coastal hub also serves as a gateway to the rest of the island, within easy reach of the party strips and family beaches of Ayia Napa and Protaras, the ancient archaeological sites of Paphos, and scenic hiking trails in the Troodos Mountains.
“The launch of our new service to London Stansted is an important addition to the Cyprus Airways network and reflects our continued focus on strengthening connectivity between Cyprus and key European markets,” Thanos Pascalis, chief executive of Cyprus Airways, said. “The United Kingdom is a particularly important market for Cyprus, with strong demand across leisure, business and visiting friends and relatives.
“By adding London Stansted to our network from April 2027, we are providing our customers with greater choice and flexibility while further strengthening our presence in one of Cyprus’ most significant international markets,” he added. “We look forward to welcoming passengers on board and offering them the convenience, reliability and authentic Cypriot hospitality that define Cyprus Airways.”
Based at Larnaca International Airport, Cyprus Airways is the island’s revived flag carrier, resurrected in 2016 by Charlie Airlines after the original state-owned operator collapsed in 2015. Operating a modern fleet of Airbus A220 and A320 aircraft, the airline bridges the gap between budget and full-service carriers, offering both Economy and Business Class cabins across key routes connecting Cyprus with mainland Europe and the Middle East.
The move comes amid a wave of new route announcements for British travellers across competing carriers. Budget giant Ryanair has rolled out fresh winter connections from Birmingham and Edinburgh starting at £29.99, while easyJet has added popular summer destinations to its schedules, with flights available to book now.
Jet2 has also expanded services across five UK hubs for winter sun-chasers, and British Airways recently introduced European holiday routes with exclusive tickets starting from just £5.
