In India, this year’s Cannes Film Festival has been surrounded by talks over Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s absence, as she has been a regular Indian celebrity at the event for years.

The 52-year-old diva may be away from the silver screen, but Cannes is one platform where fans eagerly wait to see her every year, which is why the buzz around her absence makes sense.

However, days after chatter the Devdas star was finally spotted leaving Mumbai for the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday along with daughter Aaradhya Bachchan, ending days of speculation around her absence from the event this year.

Wearing an all-black look, the actor smiled at paparazzi stationed outside the airport and also stopped briefly to pose with a young fan before heading inside.

For years, Aishwarya has remained one of the biggest Indian attractions at Cannes. So when L’Oréal Paris dropped its latest Cannes campaign featuring names like Alia Bhatt, Viola Davis, Eva Longoria and Helen Mirren, fans were quick to notice that Aishwarya was missing from the visuals.

The post soon triggered chatter online, with many social media users questioning whether the actor would skip Cannes this year.

The Josh actor first attended Cannes in 2002 during the premiere of Devdas alongside Shah Rukh Khan and filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

She later joined L’Oréal Paris as a global ambassador and has since become a regular face on the festival’s red carpet.

From bold gowns to saree appearances and dramatic beauty looks, her Cannes outings have continued to grab attention online almost every year.
