Ramayana Film: The release of the trailer of Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated film “Ramayana” has sparked heated discussions about its cast and characters. Ajinkya Dev, who plays Rishi Vishwamitra in the film, shared an interesting anecdote related to his casting. He revealed that he had initially auditioned for a different role, but ultimately landed the role of Vishwamitra, which he considers a perfect fit.
Character Selection and Audition
In “Ramayana,” which has a budget of approximately ₹4000 crore, Ajinkya Dev revealed that he initially auditioned for the role of King Dasharatha, Lord Rama’s father. However, the role went to Arun Govil, and the makers later offered him the role of Rishi Vishwamitra.
In an interview, Ajinkya Dev said, “I first auditioned for the role of King Dasharatha, and that was about three years ago. Later, Arun Govil joined the project. In my opinion, no one could have played Dasharatha better than him. After that, I was offered the role of Vishwamitra, and I immediately said yes, because this character plays a very important role in ‘Ramayana’.”
Final Selection and Look Test
Ajinkya Dev explained that he underwent several look tests before getting the role. He said, “When the team saw me in that look, everyone was very happy. During the trailer launch in Delhi, it was also said that God chooses the main characters of ‘Ramayana’. I was auditioning for another role, but in the end, the role of Vishwamitra came to me. I feel that this role best suits my personality.”
The film’s powerful cast
Nitesh Tiwari’s “Ramayana” stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. The film also stars Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh, Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Vivek Oberoi, and Kunal Kapoor in pivotal roles. The film’s music is composed by Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman. Produced by Namit Malhotra, Yash is also co-producing the film. The film is scheduled for theatrical release in November 2026.
