Samajwadi Party president and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday accused the BJP of using religion to profit from the theft of offerings at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. At the same time, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath responded by raising questions on the SP chief’s commitment towards Ayodhya and Hindu religious traditions.
Akhilesh Yadav alleged that BJP has made Sanatan Dharma a means of doing business. He said in a press conference in Lucknow, ‘Socialist people want that Sanatan Dharma should be protected, but the entire business is being run under the guise of Sanatan Dharma. BJP should change its name to ‘BCP’ – cleverness, donation, theft and trickery.’

He said, ‘Neither religion nor shame is left in BJP’s dictionary. Their priority is not religion but money. For him it is not ‘nation first’ but ‘donation first’. Talking about the theft of donations in the Ram temple and the huge irregularities in it, Akhilesh Yadav asked the BJP that how could such an incident happen at one of the most sacred places of Hinduism?
Who could have imagined such a big deception?
He said, ‘Who could have imagined such a big betrayal of public trust? The CCTV video shows the number of times the cameras were switched off. Does this need to be said? The SP chief said that BJP’s defeat is certain in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. He said, ‘BJP will neither get donations, nor offerings, nor votes. Samajwadi Party government will be formed with PDA alliance in 2027.
Continuing his attack on BJP, former CM Akhilesh Yadav further said, ‘Those who used to falsely accuse everyone of theft, now God has exposed their theft. What could be more shameful than this? In a holy place like Ayodhya, they have stolen the donations kept for God.
Gave reply to CM Yogi also
Taking another dig at the CCTV video, he said, ‘CC’ in CCTV now means ‘Chanda Chori’ and ‘Chhadwa Chori’. Poor women are now asking why should they make offerings if they are being stolen. He also responded to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s recent criticism of not visiting the Ram temple after its inauguration.

Yogi Adityanath’s reply to Akhilesh
CM Yogi Adityanath, during a rally in Hathras, accused Akhilesh Yadav and the Samajwadi Party of opposing Hindu religious traditions and taking credit for the development of Ayodhya. He said, ‘Akhilesh ji, don’t worry about Ayodhya, repent. Have darshan of Lord Shri Ram Lala at least once. At least this will give you sanity. Come, say openly that just like the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mukti Movement was started, similarly a campaign should be started for the liberation of Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi also.
The Chief Minister said, ‘I was reading a statement of Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav. He was saying that if his government comes, it will make Ayodhya a religious city. Which religious city will you build? You have seen your history. Your people opened fire on Ram devotees. Your government shot him.
