SP PDA Plus Plan: In the politics of Uttar Pradesh, preparations for the 2027 assembly elections have intensified and the most discussed are the political equations of Western UP. Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav is now seen working on a new social engineering formula here. Jat-Muslim alliance was once an important part of SP and RLD's strategy in western UP, but now the political picture has changed.

With RLD president Jayant Chaudhary with the BJP-led NDA, Akhilesh Yadav faces the challenge of repeating the old Jat-Muslim equation. For this reason, SP is now trying to garner Muslim, Dalit and Gurjar votes. In the party's strategy, considering Muslims and Yadavs as its traditional base, efforts are being made to add Dalit and Gurjar votes to it. The special thing is that this time SP's focus is more on Gurjar vote bank instead of Jats.
There is a good presence of Gurjar voters in many areas of Western UP and SP is trying to strengthen its hold in these influential areas. At the same time, Akhilesh Yadav's hopes regarding Dalit votes have also increased due to the experience of 2024 Lok Sabha elections. SP had tried to consolidate non-Yadav OBC and Dalit votes through PDA i.e. Backward, Dalit and Minority strategy. Now the party wants to carry forward this experiment in western UP.
136 assembly seats of Western UP are considered very important from electoral point of view. For SP, achieving the figure of around 50 seats here can prove to be a big game changer. But just making equations for this will not be enough. The selection of candidates, the hold of local leaders and most importantly—the actual transfer of votes will play a decisive role in the results. Another challenge before Akhilesh Yadav is to create a strong political face among the Gurjar community and give adequate representation to these communities in the organization.
So in 2027, the contest in Western UP will not just be between BJP and SP, but also between social engineering of Jat, Gurjar, Dalit, Muslim and non-Yadav OBC votes. Now it has to be seen how much effect this PDA Plus formula of Akhilesh Yadav shows on the ground and whether the strategy of making Gurjars a political alternative to Jats in Western UP is successful for SP? At present it is certain that Western UP is once again going to become a big political battlefield in the fight for power in 2027.
