Akshay Kumar will retire from Bollywood? Commenting on retirement, he said, ‘Every morning at 4 am..’
The trailer of the third installment of Bollywood’s most iconic franchise, ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ has been released. It features 30 leading Bollywood actors including Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Raveena Tandon and Lara Dutta. The film’s grand trailer launch event was held in Mumbai on Thursday, where the cast interacted with the media.
During the event, Akshay Kumar remembered the late writer-actor Neeraj Vohra, who penned the story of the film ‘Welcome to the Jungle’. He was also asked about his remuneration. Akshay is reported to have taken Rs 1.7 crore for his work in the film.
To this, Akshay said, “Whoever told you that I took Rs 1.7 crore to act in this film, I want to tell you that I did not take even that much. This film was very important to me because the story was written by Neeraj Vohra. I have said in many interviews that I learned most of my sense of humor from Priyadarshan Sahib, Rajkumar Santoshi and Neeraj Vohra. Neeraj taught me a lot. I have also known Feroze Nadiadwala for 36 years. I used to visit them during the days.”

I wake up at 4 in the morning and this thought comes to mind. But after five seconds I remember that I have to go to a shoot, where 300 people are waiting for me. Then I tell myself that I will think about retirement the next day.” It has been doing so for 36 years.

“What if I retire? I’ll be an electrician, a dog walker, a gardener, whatever. So I think it’s better to keep working than to retire. I try to spend time with my family. But then, the very next day, they ask me, ‘When are you going back to work?’ I find the word ‘retirement’ to be quite a misnomer. A man should retire when he has only five seconds to die. If you want to live long, keep working.”
Talking about Akshay’s film ‘Welcome To The Jungle’, it will hit the theaters on June 26. It is directed by Ahmed Khan, and so far its box office performance has not been very impressive. It will be important to see if Akshay’s multi-starrer does well or not.
