Alert of heavy rain in more than 40 districts of UP, administration alerted by IMD’s warning

Monsoon is in full swing in Uttar Pradesh at this time. Heavy rains are continuing in almost every corner of the state, which has brought relief to the people from the heat and humidity, but now the new warning of heavy rains has increased the concern. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Lucknow has predicted torrential rain with thunderstorms over eastern and western parts of the state for July 10. The Meteorological Department has issued orange and yellow alerts regarding heavy to very heavy rains in many districts of the state.

There will be ‘extremely heavy’ rain in these districts

According to the Meteorological Center Lucknow, on July 10, there is a possibility of lightning as well as extremely heavy torrential rain in the areas of Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharth Nagar, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri and Sitapur apart from Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal and Badaun. The department has issued an orange alert for these areas, which means that people need to be very alert.

Alert in these districts including Lucknow-Kanpur

This warning of heavy rain is not limited to only a few districts. According to the Meteorological Department report, moderate to heavy rainfall will be recorded in a large part of the state. This includes Lucknow, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Unnao, Barabanki, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Hathras, Kasganj, Etah, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Auraiya, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Gonda, Districts like Hardoi, Farrukhabad and Kannauj are included.

Advisory regarding waterlogging and crops

Due to heavy rain, the Meteorological Department has issued an advisory. According to the department, there may be severe water logging in low-lying areas and underpasses, which will severely affect road traffic. Additionally, there is a danger of old and weak buildings collapsing. This season can be worrying for farmers because there is a possibility of huge damage to crops like sugarcane, pigeon pea and maize due to water logging in the fields.

What to do and what not to do for safety?

  • Be careful of electricity: Never take shelter in open spaces or under trees during thunder or lightning.
  • Choosing a safe place: Try to stay inside safe pucca houses during heavy rains and avoid traveling on waterlogged roads.
  • Advice for farmers: Farmer brothers should immediately make proper arrangements for drainage of water from their fields, so that the crops can be saved.
