IND vs ENG 4th T20: Battle of honor for India in Bristol, 14 years’ record is at stake
New Delhi: Just a few months after becoming T20 World Champion, Team India is going through its most difficult phase today. The team of captain Shreyas Iyer and coach Gautam Gambhir will play a do or die match on July 9 at the County Ground in Bristol. If there is a defeat, not only the series but the spotless record of 14 years will also be broken.
Team India stuck in the series!
The UK tour did not start well. First the defeat against Ireland, then the faltering even after coming to England. India lost 2 out of the first 3 matches of the 5-match T20 series. The first match was lost to rain.
If that match had happened then perhaps the series would have already been decided. Now trailing 2-0, the only way for the Indian team to save the series is to win the remaining two matches.
do or die in bristol
Today’s fourth T20 is not just a match. This is a question of the credibility of captain Shreyas Iyer and coach Gautam Gambhir. If India wins, the series will be 2-1 and there will be a chance of a tie in the fifth match. But if England captures Bristol then they will win the series with an unassailable 3-0 lead. With the defeat, there will be a stain on Team India which will not be easily erased.
14 years of spotless record at stake
The history of the T20 series between India and England has been one-sided. From 2012 to 2026, there have been 6 bilateral T20 series between the two with 2 or more matches. In these, India won 5 series and 1 was drawn. England has not been able to win any T20 series against India till date. That means India’s dominance has continued for the last 14 years. But this time the picture is different. The England team is full of confidence at home and India are continuously making mistakes.
Will Team India be able to save its honour?
The Bristol pitch helps the batsmen, but Indian batting has been a consistent flop on this tour. Middle order faltering and death over bowling are both big concerns. On the other hand, young players of England are taking advantage of home conditions.
Now everyone’s eyes are on Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy and Gautam Gambhir’s strategy. Will this pair be able to make a comeback in Bristol and save their 14-year-old record, or will England create history by defeating India in a T20 series for the first time. The answer will be available only after 9 pm tonight.
