Alpha: Samay Raina’s special gift to Alia Bhatt after IGL; Kareena Kapoor applauds the film

Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh’s ‘Alpha’ is finally here! The film landed in theatres after almost a year of its announcement. YRF’s first female led film had been making waves on social media since the day it was announced but the same excitement didn’t translate into the footfalls. Director Shiv Rawail’s film opened to a luke warm response and failed to make any new box office records on its opening day.

Social media is filled with polarising reviews for the film. Amid all this, Samay Raina has come up with a generous gift for the Alpha team. The stand-up comedian took to social media to reveal that he has booked an entire theatre in Mumbai and would be giving out free passes to people to watch the film. Raina thanked Alia and Sharvari for agreeing to be the guests on India’s Got Latent and their support.

“Tomorrow I’m going to watch Alpha in Mumbai. I have booked an entire theatre and I will send 250 of you guys tickets on WhatsApp (if you are registered on my pre-sale list),” he wrote.

“It’s just a small gesture from me to show love to Alia and Sharvari for being soooo cool that they came on my show’s first episode. Love them both and super excited to see their movie! See you guys tomorrow!” he added.

Kareena Kapoor also took to social media to cheer for sister-in-law Alia Bhatt and her film. She wrote, “Killing it @aliaabhatt @sharvari. Love seeing women front and centre in an action film. Here’s to girl power @iambobbydeol @anilskapoor @yrf.” Bebo had also praised the film’s trailer back when it was released.

This comes a day after Karan Johar had taken to social media to shut down trolls amid poor reviews to the film. He had hailed Alia in his lengthy social media post. “When footfalls are a challenge ALPHA takes a solid start! It emphasises many things … the audience is way above online negativity and they are the true warriors,” he had written.
