Taylor Swift’s past interview resurfaces after massive 1,000-guest wedding
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce had always envisioned their wedding on a grand scale.
The megastar and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end got married on Friday, July 3, in a star-studded celebration at Madison Square Garden in New York City, featuring around 1,000 guests in attendance.
However, after the wedding, it appears Swift had previously hinted at the large guest list during a promotional interview last year on The Graham Norton Show for her then-released album, The Life of a Showgirl.
“I’m so excited about it,” she said in the resurfaced clip, after telling host Graham Norton, 63, that he would receive an invitation to the wedding.
The Fire it up hitmaker added, “I know it’s going to be fun to plan because I think the only stressful weddings are the ones where you have a small number of guests and people are on the bubble. You have to evaluate or assess your relationship with them to see if they should be there. I’m not gonna do that.”
She explained that, in order to make the planning process enjoyable, the couple would avoid stressing over who to include or exclude and instead invite everyone they know.
“It’s like, ‘We had to have hung out eight times. You’re on the bubble. We’ve hung out five times.’ You don’t have to think about it. It’s going to be fun,” Swift said at the time.
Norton was also among the lucky guests to attend the couple’s extravagant wedding, alongside several other celebrities.
The guest list included Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper, Mariska Hargitay with Peter Hermann, Dakota Johnson, and Ed Sheeran with Cherry Seaborn, alongside the Haim sisters, Ellie Goulding, and Benson Boone. Also in attendance were Maren Morris, Miranda Lambert, Kelsea Ballerini, The Chicks, Brad Paisley and Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Hugh Grant, Karlie Kloss and Joshua Kushner, Zoë Kravitz, Jennifer Lopez, Jason Sudeikis, Ethan Hawke, Jimmy Fallon, Tommy Hilfiger, and more.
As confirmed by Swift’s representative to PEOPLEthe couple chose not to have bridesmaids or groomsmen. Instead, Austin Swift served as man of honour for the bride, and Jason Kelce acted as best man for the groom. Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony.
The wedding news was then displayed on jumbotrons outside Madison Square Garden, reading: “JUST&T MARRIED!”
When did Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce begin dating?
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, who got engaged last year in August, quietly began dating in the summer of 2023, shortly after the NFL star revealed on his podcast in July of that year that he had tried to give the singer a friendship bracelet.
