Ameesha Patel recently revealed the reason behind replacing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Mangal Pandey: The Rising.

The 50-year-old actress, who garnered recognition for her debut role in Say no… I love you, surprised fans with recent revelation.

In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Ameesha reflected on how she impressed Aamir Khan.

Speaking to the outlet, she said, “Aamir saw an interview of mine and found me intelligent and one interview, we did together and they were taking time to set-up the camera. So, Aamir and me started playing knots and crosses. We got along very well.”

Later in the interaction, the Humraaz star shared how her association with The river lent her towards being featured in Mangal Panday.

“I had screen-tested for The riverwas selected, and had even allotted dates,” she added.

Reflecting on her dissociation with the project, the Bhool Bhulaiyaa actress said, “He(Ashutosh Gowariker) felt my eyes looked too educated, and I am also extremely fair-skinned.”

It is pertinent to mention that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan reportedly stepped down due to fee differences.

Mangal Pandey: The Risingfeaturing Aamir Khan, Ameesha, Rani Mukerji, and more, turned out to be the fourth highest-grossing Hindi film of 2005.
