American singer Mary Milben won the hearts of Indians on Trump’s controversial statement, “India’s soil takes the world forward”.
Washington/New Delhi: A controversial statement by US President Donald Trump has intensified political and social turmoil at the international level. In fact, during a radio program, Trump had used the word ‘hellhole’ for countries like India and China. Famous American singer and actress Mary Milben has expressed strong displeasure on this comment of Trump and is seen standing strongly in favor of India.
Mary Milben showed mirror to Trump
Mary Milben has shared a long post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) opposing Trump’s views. Describing India and China as very rich culturally, he said that these countries are not ‘hell’, but are such great lands which give direction to the whole world. Milben praised the Indian American and Asian American communities. He said that these people are an essential part of America’s strength and their contribution in improving the country is incomparable.
Sharing his personal experiences, Milben wrote that he himself has performed in India and China and has a deep love for both these cultures. He said in clear words that it is important to understand the importance of these countries instead of negative things.
Iran advised Trump to do ‘cultural detox’
Now Iran has also entered this dispute. The Consulate General of Iran in Mumbai has shared a very beautiful video on social media. This video showcases the rich culture of Maharashtra, the pace of Mumbai, the splendor of Ganesh Chaturthi and the natural beauty of Satara and Khandesh. It was humorously written along with the video that this could be like a ‘cultural detox’ for Trump, so that he can see the real beauty of India.
How did this whole controversy start?
The controversy erupted when Donald Trump re-shared a video and transcript of a podcast by Michael Savage. In this show, Savage criticized the ‘Birthright Citizenship’ law. Savage had alleged that people come to America with bad intentions to get American citizenship for their children. During this time, he had used very objectionable and derogatory words for India, China and some other countries, which Trump supported.
Indian government expressed strong objection
The Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India has reacted strongly to these comments. Criticizing Trump’s statements, the ministry said that such things are completely wrong, lack of information and reflect bad thinking. India clarified that this statement does not reflect the reality of the strong relations between India and America, which are based on mutual respect and common interests. At the same time, the US Embassy in New Delhi defended itself by saying that Trump considers India a great country and considers its leadership as his good friend.
