New Delhi: Chinese President Xi Jinping is on a tour of America these days and is having an important meeting with President Donald Trump there. Meanwhile, a big statement has come out from China regarding relations with India. Chinese Ambassador to Delhi Xu Feihong said that India and China should not consider each other as rivals but as partners, and both should be seen as opportunities for development rather than threats.
Xu Feihong spoke at length on India-China relations at an event held in Delhi to mark the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. He said that both the countries are close neighbors and friendly dialogue and cooperation have always been the foundation of this relationship. He stressed that both the countries should move forward with strategic and long-term thinking.
Talking about working together and growing business
The ambassador said that China, together with India, wants to find a way by which the neighboring big countries can move forward with mutual cooperation. He also mentioned the strength of economic relations, saying that in the first half of this year, trade between the two countries increased to $91.7 billion, which is about 23.6 percent more than last year.

Xu Feihong acknowledged that there are some differences between the two countries, but being ancient civilizations, both have the political and historical understanding to resolve them. He said that Beijing maintains a dual-track approach on border issues, in which along with maintaining peace on the border, mutual trust should also be strengthened.
Modi-Jinping meeting was also mentioned
The ambassador also cited the meeting of PM Modi and Xi Jinping during the recent BRICS summit, in which it was agreed between the two leaders to take the relationship on a stronger path. He also appealed to protect the common interests of the Global South. It is worth noting that this statement has come at a time when Jinping is meeting Trump in America, hence China's stance regarding India is considered very important.
