'UCC will be implemented in 21 states before 2029', Amit Shah made a big announcement

The central government aims to implement it in 21 NDA ruled states. The government is working in this direction and this will happen before the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. Shah said that UCC has been included in the main agenda of BJP. The party had also promised to implement UCC in the country in its 2024 Lok Sabha election manifesto.

What is UCC?

The purpose of the Uniform Civil Code is to create a uniform legal system in civil matters by replacing individual laws applicable to different religious communities. Its scope mainly includes topics like marriage, divorce, inheritance and adoption. However, under UCC, it has come to light that exemptions have been given to tribal communities keeping in mind their traditional identity and customs.

It has already started in many states

Amit Shah said that UCC has been implemented in some states. Uttarakhand became the first state in the country where Uniform Civil Code was implemented. After this, steps have been taken towards implementing it in other BJP/NDA ruled states also. The central government has been linking it to equal rights and a uniform legal system. At the same time, there has been debate regarding UCC at the political and social level for a long time.

Amit Shah also gave update on NRC

While talking to the media in Mumbai, Amit Shah was also asked about NRC. He said that the government is discussing this issue with allies and various groups of Manipur. At present, he did not give any specific deadline for implementing NRC.

On the issue of illegal infiltration, Shah said that the government will identify those who have entered the country illegally and action will be taken to expel them. He especially talked about action against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.

Also enumerate the works of Modi government

In his address, Amit Shah also mentioned the achievements of Modi government in the last 12 years. He included steps like abolishing triple talaq, removing Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and implementing new criminal laws among the major reforms of the government. He also mentioned the government's policy against Naxalism and terrorism. Also, he talked about taking forward the drug-free campaign being run against drugs in the country.

Seva Sankalp campaign will start from 17th September

Amit Shah also informed about the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' to mark 25 years of public life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This campaign will be run from 17 September to 17 October. BJP and its allies will organize various programs across the country during this period.

This announcement by Amit Shah regarding UCC has come at a time when BJP is preparing to take forward its major ideological and policy agenda before the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. Now the focus will be on what kind of process different NDA ruled states adopt to implement UCC.
