Amit Shah roared in Chhattisgarh – ‘I can say with pride that India is now free from Naxalites’

Raipur, 18 May. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday announced that India is now free from Naxalism. He said that after huge sacrifices by the security forces, this insurgency that has been going on for decades has finally been defeated.

Addressing a program in Jagdalpur, once considered the center of Maoist activities in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region, Shah said, ‘I can proudly say that India is now free from Naxalites.’

Government committed to ensure permanent peace and rapid development in Bastar

Shah, who is on a three-day visit to Chhattisgarh, said both the central and state governments are committed to ensuring lasting peace and rapid development in Bastar. He further said that this tribal area will emerge as the most developed tribal area of ​​the country within the next five years.

Addressing the gathering at the Bastar Academy of Dance, Art and Literature (BADAL) campus, the Home Minister described the occasion as a ‘historic day’ and attributed the achievement to the sacrifices made by security personnel over the years during anti-Naxal operations. He said, ‘It was a dream which has been fulfilled after many security personnel sacrificed their lives during the operations.’

Leftist extremism swallowed three generations through violence

Shah also said that left-wing extremism, which started spreading in the 1970s, has swallowed three generations through violence and deprived people of basic amenities and development. He said, ‘When the Modi government took power in 2014, there were internal security challenges related to Jammu and Kashmir, North-Eastern states and Left Wing Extremism (LWE). Today, I can say that overall, the country has overcome all three of these challenges.

During the event, Shah also interacted with families of civilians killed in Naxalite violence, security personnel honored for bravery in anti-Maoist operations, and tribal community leaders. These leaders shared their experiences of the insurgency-affected years.

Appeal to accept surrendered Naxalites into mainstream society

Urging the society to cooperate in the rehabilitation of former rebels, Shah appealed to the community leaders of the seven districts of Bastar to forget the bitterness of the past and accept the surrendered Naxalites into the mainstream society. He said, ‘Around 3,000 Naxalites have surrendered in the state. We have made a comprehensive plan to give them a respectable place in the society. Narendra Modi government will leave no stone unturned in this direction.

about 200 70 CAPF camps to be converted into ‘Public Service Centres’

Shah also announced that about 70 of the approximately 200 Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) camps present in the state will be converted into ‘Public Service Centres’, with an aim to speed up the pace of development in remote areas.

He said that under the supervision of the Home Ministry, infrastructure and welfare facilities like roads, rural development projects, bank branches, post offices, availability of LPG, food grains distribution, drinking water and electricity will be expanded across Bastar.
