Andy Burnham Becomes New PM of Britain: Britain’s Labor Party has elected Andy Burnham as its new leader. The party announced this at a special conference held in London on Friday. Britain’s current Prime Minister Keir Starmer resigned from his post last month. After this, the Labor Party chose Burnham in his place. He will become the 59th Prime Minister of Britain. After Starmer’s resignation, King Charles III may invite him to form a new government.

Labor Party National Executive Committee (NEC) chairperson Shabana Mahmood said Andy Burnham was the only eligible candidate in the party leadership election. He got the support of 379 MPs, after which he was declared the new leader of the party without any contest. It is being told that Andy can take oath as Prime Minister on July 20.

Andy Burnham outlined his priorities for the party and the country in his address after the announcement. He said that his first effort would be to unite the Labor Party. He believes that if party leaders and workers keep fighting among themselves, they will not be able to compete with the new right-wing politics of the country. He said that his biggest objective would be to end the tussle and factionalism within the party.

Burnham also talked about changing the way of politics. He said that people are troubled by the mutual statements and allegations and counter-allegations of the leaders. When people’s lives are becoming expensive and the standard of living is falling, then leaders should solve people’s problems instead of targeting each other. He said that trust in politics will return only when leaders honestly listen to the people and work for them.

Party will not copy others

He talked about strengthening the distinct identity of the Labor Party as his third priority. Burnham said that his party would not copy other parties, but would move forward with its core principles and ideas. He said that the Labor Party will work on its policies with confidence.

Burnham also promised that he would become the leader of the entire United Kingdom. He said equal importance would be given to people from the North, South, East and West of England, as well as those from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. At the end of his speech he promised greater decentralization of power. He said that more power of the government should not be limited only to London, but local areas should also be given more rights so that they can take their own decisions.
