Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council (MLC) election dates have been officially announced. Voting will be held on a total of 11 MLC seats in UP on 23rd October, while just four days later i.e. on 27th October, the election results of all these seats will be revealed. As the election dates approach, all the major political parties of the state have geared up and intensified their preparations.
In this series, Samajwadi Party (SP) has taken a big step and has announced the names of its authorized candidates for the posts of Graduate MLC of Varanasi section and Teacher MLC of Varanasi section long ago. The party has made its intentions clear by fielding its old and trusted faces once again.
Gave SP a spectacular victory in the December 2020 elections
Let us tell you that Samajwadi Party candidate Lal Bihari Yadav had won in the Varanasi section teachers MLC elections held in December 2020. At the same time, in the graduate MLC elections of Varanasi section held during the same period, Ashutosh Sinha of Samajwadi Party had registered a spectacular victory. Now once again the Samajwadi Party has expressed its full confidence in these two experienced leaders and has made them the candidates for the MLC elections of 2026.
Political experts believe that in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) got a huge mandate in the entire country. Just before this, in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, BJP had won power in the state with a unilateral majority, defying all major political equations.
SP had achieved great success even during the strong wave of BJP.
At that time, especially in the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh, there was a strong and one-sided wave of the Bharatiya Janata Party. But the surprising thing was that even amidst that political environment, both these leaders of Samajwadi Party had declared their victory in the MLC elections of December 2020. These leaders had provided a strong position to their party within the Legislative Council.
Perhaps this is a big reason why the Samajwadi Party has once again expressed confidence in him and has fielded him again in the 2026 MLC elections. However, the interesting thing is that till now the Bharatiya Janata Party has not officially announced the names of any of its candidates on these two important seats.
Ashutosh Sinha said- Will raise the voice of the people by winning their trust
While talking to the media, Samajwadi Party MLC Ashutosh Sinha said that the party's national president Akhilesh Yadav has once again expressed confidence in him and given him a precious opportunity to serve the public. He said with full confidence that he is confident that this time too he will win the support and trust of the people and convey their strong voice directly to the House.
Attacking the present government, Ashutosh Sinha said that in today's time, the youth of the country, teachers, educationists and every section of the society which plays the most important role in strengthening the basic structure of the society, have become extremely disappointed and frustrated with this government.
'BJP can use money power and muscle power'
Taking aim at the ruling party, the SP leader said that the Bharatiya Janata Party can openly use money and muscle power to win elections and try to mislead the people, but now the general public has understood their reality and has completely rejected them.
On the other hand, very important strategic meetings are also being organized by BJP to win these MLC elections. In these meetings, the party has set a big target of reaching out to every voter and running its public relations campaign with full force, due to which the contest is likely to be very interesting.
