New Delhi, 20 September 2026: India's Elavenil Valariv has won the silver medal in the women's individual 10 meter air rifle event at the Asian Games held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. After earlier winning the silver medal in the team event, he has achieved this individual silver medal.
Elavenile, the bronze medalist at the 2025 World Championships, had scored 252.4 points in the final and was behind Japan's Hinata Taichi, who had won the gold medal with a record score of 253 points.
Earlier, India had won the silver medal in the women's 10 meter air rifle team competition in the Asian Games held at Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. The team consisting of Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Musker and Vidharsa Vinod won the first medal for the country. Sonam had finished fourth in the individual qualification round with 634.1 points, while Olympian Elavenil stood seventh with a score of 633.5.
China won the gold medal with 1904.2 points, while India maintained its second position with 1897 points.
Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya had congratulated Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar and Vidarsaa Vinod for winning the silver medal in the women's 10 meter air rifle team competition in the 2026 Asian Games. Dr. Mandaviya had congratulated the winners through a social media post and wished the entire Indian contingent to achieve many such glorious moments in the future.
