Another big blow to TMC, Shantanu Sen leaves the post of national spokesperson
After the crushing defeat in the assembly elections, Trinamool Congress is not able to recover from the shock. On Wednesday, senior woman MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastikar resigned from the post of national president of Trinamool Mahila Congress. Now on Thursday, former MP Dr. Shantanu Sen has also left the post of national spokesperson. Just a few days ago, Mamata Banerjee had removed Kakoli Ghosh Dastikar from the post of chief whip of the party in the Lok Sabha. This responsibility was given to Kalyan Banerjee in his place.
Now Shantanu Sen’s resignation is also being considered as a big blow for TMC. In his resignation, Shantanu mentioned corruption, RG tax case and ‘cash for job’ and said that when the public has rejected us, it is not appropriate to support him as a spokesperson.

‘The public rejected us due to corruption and immoral activities’
In a letter to TMC President Mamata Banerjee, Shantanu Sen said, ‘Even though I did not agree with her views on many difficult occasions, I fought openly for the party on many controversial issues in the media. Common people often praised me for this. But in the present situation, when the people of Bengal have rejected us because of many unethical acts and corruption like RG tax case, Abhaya case and ‘cash for job’ corruption, then I am no longer willing to support them in any way as a spokesperson.
He further wrote that for this reason, keeping in mind the public’s decision, I want to resign from the post of All India Spokesperson of Trinamool Congress. Please accept and respect my resignation.

On the other hand, TMC MP Sukhendu Shekhar Roy praised the BJP government of West Bengal. He said, ‘The general public is very happy at this time with the work done so far and the steps taken by the new government under the leadership of Suvendu Adhikari. The government is moving in the right direction. This is exactly how a government should work… He (CM Suvendu Adhikari) is very hardworking. I have rarely met a leader who is as hardworking as him.
