Another blow to TMC, Koel Malik resigns from Rajya Sabha
Trinamool Congress (TMC) suffered another setback on Thursday. TMC MP Rukmini ‘Koyal’ Malik has tendered her resignation from Rajya Sabha. In his resignation letter to the Rajya Sabha Chairman, Koel Malik wrote, ‘I resign from the membership of the Rajya Sabha. This should please be accepted with immediate effect. I express my heartfelt gratitude to you, the Honorable Deputy Chairman and all the officers of the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, who provided every kind of help and cooperation during my tenure as a Rajya Sabha member.
Only three months ago, actress Koel Malik was nominated as Rajya Sabha MP. His resignation is being considered a big blow for TMC. Before Koel Malik, Sukhendu Shekhar Rai, Sushmita Dev and Prakash Chik Baraik have also resigned from the membership of Rajya Sabha. These three leaders have joined BJP. BJP has again fielded all three on the vacated seats.

Who is Koel Malik?
Koel Malik is a well-known actress of Bengali film industry. In 2013, she married film producer Nispal Singh. Both have a son. Koyal is the daughter of veteran Bengali film actors Ranjit Malik and Deepa Malik.
Took oath on April 6
Koel Malik met Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav in New Delhi before his resignation. Since then, a new phase of speculation had started in Bengal politics. Let us tell you that Koel Malik took oath as Rajya Sabha MP on 6 April this year. Till now he had not participated in any proceedings of the House.

TMC struggling with rebellion
After the resignation of Koel Malik, a total of 9 TMC members are left in the Rajya Sabha. At the same time, 20 out of 28 Lok Sabha MPs have already joined Tripura’s Nationalist Citizens Party. These MPs have said to support NDA in the lower house.
At the same time, TMC is facing rebellion in Bengal Assembly also. About 59 MLAs have formed their own separate group. He claims that he is the real faction of TMC. They have more than two-thirds majority.
