Anshul Kuncha, a 28-year-old Indian youth from Telangana, was shot dead in Philadelphia, America. His family alleges that this was not an incident of robbery, but a pre-planned conspiracy. He claims that Anshul was called to a deserted area on the pretext of a fake pizza order. As soon as he reached there the attackers shot him in the head.

Late Saturday night, he received an order for pizza delivery to an address in the Raymond Rosen Homes housing complex in Philadelphia. When they reached there, there were no customers present. At the same time, two unknown assailants attacked him and shot him several times in the head. After the incident the attackers fled from the spot. Despite having a good job in America, Anshul also did part-time pizza delivery work on weekends to earn extra income.

Anshul seen carrying pizza in CCTV footage

According to American media reports, Anshul was seen carrying pizza in the CCTV cameras of Philadelphia Housing Authority. In the footage, two people wearing black clothes and carrying bags on their backs are also seen walking behind them. The police are searching for the attackers on the basis of these photographs, although the footage has not been made public yet. Anshul’s sister Tanvi said that it was completely a trap.

He said, ‘There was no one there at the place where they were called to deliver the pizza. It turned out to be a fake order. My brother was called there only to be killed. We don’t know what the attackers got out of it, but they took my brother’s life.

Who was Anshul Kuncha?

Anshul was originally from Telangana. He did B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from Chaitanya Bharati Institute of Technology, Hyderabad. Subsequently, with the support of his family, he moved to the United States and completed a master’s degree in Business Analytics from Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business in Pennsylvania. During his studies, he received ‘Labo Alumni Merit Scholarship’. After completing his master’s degree, Anshul started working in the data analytics sector in the US. Prior to this, she worked at Amazon in India as a Senior Product Compliance Analyst and at Jio Platforms as an Operations Analyst and Graduate Engineer Trainee.

Indian Consulate expressed grief over the attack

The Indian Consulate in New York has expressed grief over Anshul’s death. In a statement released on social media, the embassy said that it is in touch with the local authorities and Anshul’s family and all possible help is being provided.

After this incident, there is an atmosphere of mourning in the Telugu community in America and his native village Gundlapochampalli in Telangana. Relatives, friends and local people describe Anshul as a hardworking, friendly and happy young man. Meanwhile, the police are investigating the case from the perspective of murder and are searching for the attackers on the basis of CCTV footage and other evidence.
