Technology Desk: Apple has launched the new Mac Studio in India. The company has introduced it with the latest M5 Max and new M5 Ultra chip. AI, graphics, storage and connectivity in the new Mac Studio have been improved compared to before. Along with this, the company has also launched a new Mac mini.
Mac Studio with M5 Max chip
Mac Studio's M5 Max model has an 18-core CPU. It includes 6 super cores and 12 performance cores. Apart from this, the option of up to 40-core GPU and up to 128GB Unified Memory is available. Its memory bandwidth is up to 614GB/s.
According to Apple, the new Mac Studio can provide up to 3.9 times better AI performance than the previous generation. At the same time, up to 50 percent improvement in GPU performance has been claimed. It also features hardware-accelerated ray tracing and improved shader cores.
Up to 512GB memory in M5 Ultra model
The M5 Ultra model has been made more powerful. It has up to 36-core CPU and up to 80-core GPU. It has up to 512GB Unified Memory and memory bandwidth up to 1.2TB/s.
Apple claims that the M5 Ultra has up to 4.3 times the peak AI compute performance compared to the M3 Ultra. Graphics performance can be up to 1.8 times faster and multi-threaded CPU performance can be up to 1.3 times better.
Many features have been provided in it for video professionals also. Its Media Engine can support up to 33 streams of 8K ProRes 422 video at 30fps simultaneously.
Will help in running local AI models
The new Mac Studio is designed with AI workloads in mind. In this, CPU, GPU, Neural Engine and Unified Memory together help in running the AI model on the device itself without the help of a server.
Apple's MLX framework lets developers run, train, and fine-tune AI models.
According to the company, with the help of Thunderbolt 5 and RDMA, multiple Mac Studios can be connected to form an AI cluster. A cluster of four Mac Studio can deliver AI inference up to 3 times faster than a single system.
Support for Wi-Fi 7 and Thunderbolt 5
For connectivity, the new Mac Studio has Thunderbolt 5, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. It also has PCIe Gen 6 based SSD architecture.
Bandwidth up to 120Gb/s can be available through Thunderbolt 5. The new Mac Studio can support up to 8 displays simultaneously.

The variant with 512GB Unified Memory will be available from the end of October. The company has started pre-orders from August 25. It can be pre-ordered through Apple Store online and Apple Store app in 30 countries including India.
Mac Studio sales will begin on September 22 through Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Resellers.
