October 6 (Read): Apple is reportedly planning two sets of product launches in October, with a new smart home hub expected to be the most significant announcement. The company could also introduce refreshed HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K models, along with several new Mac models and a next-generation iPad mini.
Apple Could Announce New Products in Two Sets
According to a report, Apple could unveil a new smart home hub, second-generation HomePod mini and an updated Apple TV 4K on October 13. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman had earlier reported that these products could be announced on that date. He later suggested that Apple could hold an event instead of announcing the products through press releases.
MacRumors has now reported that Apple may be planning another product launch during the final week of October. Citing multiple sources familiar with the company’s plans, the publication said Macs could be among the most likely products to be announced during the second launch.
Smart Home Hub Could Be the Main Highlight
The new smart home hub is expected to be the most significant of Apple’s October launches. The device has reportedly been in development for several years.
The rumoured device could feature a 6-inch square display and may be available in tabletop and wall-mounted versions. It is expected to combine smart home controls with features such as FaceTime, photo viewing, music playback and widgets. Siri AI is also expected to play a central role in the device.
HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K May Get Upgrades
The second-generation HomePod mini and updated Apple TV 4K are also expected to be part of Apple’s October plans. While their overall designs may remain unchanged, internal upgrades could be introduced to support Apple Intelligence.
The new HomePod mini could feature a newer chip, improved audio, Apple’s N1 wireless chip and additional colour options.
The Apple TV 4K could also receive a faster chip and the N1 wireless chip, along with an updated Siri Remote.
New Macs and iPad mini Could Arrive
The second set of October launches could include higher-end MacBook Pro models with OLED displays. Apple may also introduce a base 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by an M6 chip and a new iMac using the same generation of Apple silicon.
A new iPad mini is also rumoured to debut this month. The device could feature an OLED display and an A20 Pro chip.
