According to the company, 50-year-old Ternes has been associated with Apple for the last 25 years and has especially played an important role in the development of the iPhone. Since 2025, he was working as the head of hardware engineering. Now from September 1, he will officially take over as the new CEO.

Tim Cook will resign after 15 years

Tim Cook, who has been the CEO for the last 15 years, will now play the role of executive chairman. Cook, 65, will focus on the formulation and implementation of the company’s global strategies. Under this change, Art Levinson will be removed from the post of chairman and made a director.

There has also been a change in the hardware engineering team. Ternes’ longtime deputy, Tom Marib, will become the new chief, reporting to Johnny Srouzi, who was recently given responsibility for the hardware technology group.
