Applications for regularization of 1511 unauthorized colonies of Delhi start from today, apply on Swagam portal
MCD has taken a big step by taking forward the process of regularization of unauthorized colonies in Delhi. Applications for regularization certificate are starting from today on MCD’s Swagam portal. In the initial phase, about 40,000 residents, who have already got ownership rights under the PM-UDAY Scheme, will be able to apply. This process is considered a relief for those people who were waiting for valid documents of their properties for a long time. The Corporation has decided to set up help desks in all its 12 zone offices for the convenience of citizens. Through these help desks people will be able to get information and guidance related to regularization.
Can do tracking online
According to corporation officials, after applying on the Swagam portal, citizens will be able to track the entire process of regularization of their property online. With this, applicants will continue to get information about every stage sitting at home. Along with this, mobile message (SMS) alert service will also be provided to the applicants. When their regularization certificate is issued, its notification will be sent directly to their mobile.

The Central Government notified the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Recognition of Property Rights of Residents of Unauthorized Colonies) Regulations, 2019 in October 2019. After this, PM-UDAY Scheme (Prime Minister’s Rights in Unauthorized Colonies Scheme) was launched on 29 October 2019, the main objective of which is to provide legal ownership rights of their houses to the people living in unauthorized colonies of Delhi. Thousands of residents have so far received ownership rights under this scheme. In this series, the government announced the regularization of 1511 unauthorized colonies on April 7, paving the way for a large number of people to get legal relief.
Corporation’s action plan regarding Swagam portal
Citizens can directly apply online for regularization of their property through the link mcdonline.nic.in/swagam. The application process is completely digital, there will be no need for physical submission in any office. The corporation has empaneled more than 700 professionals (architects/planners etc.).
If the applicant wishes, they can consult them and complete their application correctly. The applicant will get online regularization certificate under PM-UDAY Scheme. This certificate will be issued by the building department office at the zone level of the corporation. At present it is likely to take approximately 60 days for the regularization certificate to be issued. The applicant’s data available on the PM Uday portal will be automatically transferred to the Swagam portal, making the process easier.
