Ariana Grande has once again sparked concern among fans after releasing the music video for petal, the title track from her eighth studio album.
The music video, which premiered on Friday, July 31, features the 33-year-old American singer-songwriter and actress auditioning in front of a panel of men while wearing a Grease-inspired outfit consisting of an off-the-shoulder black top, black leggings, a matching neck scarf and vibrant red lipstick.
However, more than the video itself, Grande’s appearance became the main talking point, with many viewers commenting on how thin she looked.
Fans’ reactions
Shortly after the music video dropped, fans of the Wicked star took to social media to weigh in on her latest appearance.
“I love this new era, but I still can’t help but be concerned whenever I see her bones be so visible. I hope she gets better,” one concerned fan wrote on YouTube.
Another added, “THIS IS NOT NORMAL! PLEASE SOMEBODY NEED TO TALK TO HER!!!!!”
“I hope she realizes there are a lot of people who aren’t just ‘haters’ and comment about her weight loss because they are genuinely worried and care,” a third wrote.
A fourth commented, “Honestly, I feel really uneasy watching the mv.”
“At this point, I’m judging her team. This is insane!” another user wrote, criticising the Dangerous Woman hitmaker’s team.
Ariana Grande’s past response to body comments
Grande has repeatedly found herself at the centre of conversations about her appearance. In 2024, she became teary-eyed while speaking about the “overwhelming” pressure on women to constantly look perfect.
Reflecting on the issue, she said, “I think that it’s something that is uncomfortable no matter what scale you’re experiencing it on.”
The One Last Time songstress stressed that unsolicited remarks about a person’s weight can be “uncomfortable” and “horrible.”
