Three day international chemistry conference organized in MGCU

East Champaran. A grand and successful three-day international conference based on “Frontier Areas of Chemistry (ICFAC-2026)” was organized in Jupiter Auditorium, Buddha Campus of Mahatma Gandhi Central University. More than 500 scientists, researchers and students from India and abroad participated in this three-day long conference, making it an important platform for global scientific dialogue. The conference was inaugurated by chief guest Prof. Ranjit Verma, special guest Prof. Gautam Brahmachari and Vice Chancellor Prof. It was done with the lighting of the lamp by Sanjay Srivastava.

Program Chairman and Co-Convenor Prof. Devdutt Chaturvedi welcomed the guests. The highlight of the inaugural session was “Dr. Suprabhat Rai Memorial Award”, which was first honored by Prof. CSIR-CDRI, Lucknow. Awarded to T. Narendra for his excellent research work. On this occasion Prof. A.S. Negi underlined his achievements, while Prof. Atul Gupta recalled the life of Late Dr. Suprabhat Rai and his contribution in the development of the world’s first non-steroidal contraceptive “Saheli”. Emotional moments were also seen during this period.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjay Srivastava in his address emphasized the important role of chemistry in dealing with climate change, energy crisis and new diseases. Whereas Prof. Ranjit Verma inspired the young scientists to ask questions fearlessly and take full advantage of this platform. Pro. Gautam Brahmachari underlined the importance of Green Chemistry and Prof. Arthtran Pal described the increased use of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Chemistry as a necessity for the future.

The digital version of the ‘Abstract Book’ of over 300 pages, which contains research papers from several countries including the US, South Africa and Poland, was also released during the conference. Technical sessions were started by Prof. T. Narendra’s lecture on “Natural Products Drug Discovery”. Apart from this, Prof. Naveen B. Patel, Prof. Bimal Krishna Banik, Prof. Ramendra Pratap and Prof. Many scientists including Luqman Hakim Chaudhary presented their research. In the second session, scientists from India and abroad, Prof. Gautam Brahmachari, Prof. Nicodem Kuznik (South Africa), Prof. Ashish K. Tiwari (BHU), Prof. Ram Sagar Mishra (JNU) and Prof. Rameshwar Adhikari (Nepal) discussed his research work in detail. The second day of the conference saw an in-depth discussion on the impact of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Molecular Hybridization on the future of chemistry.

Pro. Atul Gupta shared his important research on estrogen and breast cancer. Dr. Sujit Sahu, while giving a lecture on Smarter Drug Discovery, said that with the help of technologies like AI and AI, the drug discovery process is becoming faster and economical.Prof. Bapurao B. Through his research on molecular hybridisation, Shingte explained how new and effective medicines can be developed by combining two molecules, which can prove useful in the treatment of infections like ‘Candida’. The third day started with Prof. Naresh Patwari (IIT Mumbai), whose contribution gave a new direction to the conference.

During this time Prof. A.S. Negi (CSIR–CIMAP, Lucknow) further enriched the programme. The first speaker was Dr. Neeraj Kumar Mishra (Lucknow University), who gave a detailed lecture on C–H bond functionalization. Explaining its reaction mechanism and synthetic transformation, he said that this technology is extremely important in the development of modern drug candidates.
