PM Modi’s letter to the country on women’s reservation, seeks support from women’s power
New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written a detailed letter addressing the women power of the country before the proposed constitutional amendment in the Parliament regarding women’s reservation. She shared this letter on social media platforms and appealed to women to support this historic initiative.
The Prime Minister said that mothers, sisters and daughters across the country are welcoming the decision to implement women’s reservation from the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections of 2029. Paying tribute to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar on his birth anniversary on April 14, he said that this step is very important to carry forward the values of equality and inclusion of the Constitution.
He told that discussion on Nari Shakti Vandan Act will start in the Parliament from 16th April. The Prime Minister expressed hope that the entire House will together pass this amendment, which will ensure participation of women in legislative institutions.
In his letter the Prime Minister also mentioned the achievements of women. He said that today women are making significant contributions in fields like science, innovation, sports, education, arts and entrepreneurship and are playing an important role in the development of the country. He also said that women got the right to vote since the time of independence, but their adequate participation in legislative bodies has not been ensured till now.
Prime Minister Modi said that to achieve the goal of developed India by the year 2047, participation of women in the decision process is necessary. She said that if the 2029 elections are held with women’s reservation, Indian democracy will be stronger.
He termed any delay in this direction as unfortunate and termed it an injustice to women power. In the end, the Prime Minister appealed to the women to write letters to their respective MPs and inspire them to support this bill, so that there can be widespread support in passing it in the Parliament.
