Haridwar Police held a meeting with taxi unions regarding Chardham Yatra.
Haridwar. In view of the upcoming Chardham Yatra season, Haridwar Police held an important meeting with taxi unions on Wednesday with the aim of ensuring the safety of the devotees, smooth traffic system and adherence to rules.
The meeting was presided over by Deputy Superintendent of Traffic Police (Traffic) Vipendra Kumar. Officials of all the taxi unions of Haridwar area, vehicle owners and drivers participated in the meeting. While discussing the convenience and security arrangements of the passengers in the meeting, the officials made it clear that it is the responsibility of all the drivers and union officials to completely follow the guidelines issued by the administration.
Police officers directed that it is mandatory to display the prescribed fare list in all taxis and commercial vehicles, so that arbitrary recovery from passengers can be stopped. Along with this, it was also made mandatory to keep a first-aid box in every vehicle.
It was directed in the meeting that the drivers should strictly follow the traffic rules and not overloading under any circumstances. Drivers were instructed to maintain polite, cooperative and pleasant behavior with the passengers. The police administration gave a clear warning that if any driver or vehicle owner violates the rules or is negligent, then strict action will be taken against him as per the rules.
It is noteworthy that this year, preparations are going on at the administrative level for the Chardham Yatra. Haridwar is considered the main gateway for travel, hence special care is being taken regarding the traffic system and convenience of the passengers. In-charge Traffic Inspector Sandeep Singh Negi, Transport Tax Officer Ravindra Saini and representatives of taxi unions were present in the meeting.
