How was Irrfan Khan’s condition while battling cancer?

Irrfan Khan: Indian cinema’s veteran actor Irrfan Khan may not be among us today, but his memories and his acting legacy are still alive in millions of hearts. Recently, his son Babil Khan has shared such a touching story of his father’s illness on social media, reading which anyone’s eyes can become moist. This memory is of the time when Irfan was battling death, but even in that painful period, his dedication towards his wife Sutapa Sikdar did not diminish.

How was Irrfan Khan’s condition while battling cancer?
Irrfan Khan was fighting a serious disease like neuroendocrine tumor. The pictures and memories shared by Babil clearly reflect the period when cancer had made this brilliant actor physically very weak. At that extreme stage of the illness, Irfan’s condition had become such that it was difficult to even recognize him. That glow on her face and that mischievousness in her eyes had been buried under the onslaught of the disease, but the human being and loving husband within her was still equally active. This post of Babil testifies to the silent strength that this family showed in the most difficult times.

That emotional moment before death
Babil shared a very personal and heart-touching memory on Instagram. He told that when his father was going through the most unbearable pain of cancer, his mother Sutapa used to run around taking care of him day and night. Due to this running around, Sutapa had developed painful corns on his feet. Babil writes, ‘Baba was in the worst phase of his cancer, but when he saw the condition of mother’s feet, he tied his phone on his head like a torch to provide light and he himself started treating mother’s feet.’ When a man himself, who is close to death, tries to relieve the minor pain of his life partner, the scene is heart-breaking.

Babil Khan preserving his father’s legacy
This is not the first time that Babil has presented the untold stories of his father to the world. He often shares rare pictures of his childhood with Irrfan, in which sometimes Irrfan is seen holding little Babil in his lap, and sometimes he is seen carrying him on his shoulders and taking him for a walk. Irfan died on 29 April 2020 at the age of 53, but his stories of simplicity and love through Babil are still inspiring people.

Babil’s career
Babil himself is now making his mark in the world of acting. After debuting with the film ‘Kala’, she was recently seen in the cyber thriller ‘Logout’. Apart from this, he was seen in the web series ‘Railway Man’. Although he is active on screen, his social media is still a ‘museum’ of his father’s memories which keeps fans connected with the human side of the great artist.
