Virudunagar: A major accident has occurred in Virudunagar, Tamil Nadu. 23 people have died and 6 people are injured in this incident.
Earlier the news came that 16 people had died in this incident but later the number of dead has increased and till now a total of 23 people have lost their lives and 6 people are injured.
Collector N.O. Sukhaputra said, “There was an explosion at a firecracker factory in Virudunagar, killing 23 people. 19 bodies have been identified, including 16 women and 3 men. 6 injured are admitted in the ICU. We have made special arrangements for post-mortem. A second explosion occurred during the rescue operation, due to which the rescue workers suffered injuries. The medical team is taking care of them.”

According to the information received, there was a blast in a firecracker factory in Kattnar Patti. Fancy firecrackers are made in this factory. The owner of this factory is Muthu Manikam, a resident of Govindanallur. This afternoon, an explosion occurred in the factory when workers were stringing firecrackers.
The people injured in the incident have been admitted to Virudunagar Government Hospital for treatment.
